Learning objectives

At the end of the course, students will be able to: - describe the grammatical phenomena of the Russian language by using an adequate linguistic terminology, both in Italian and in Russian; - apply formal linguistic concepts to the different levels of analysis of the Russian language; - think critically on linguistic issues related to the acquisition and teaching of Russian as a Foreign Language.

Basic knowledge of the Russian language (B1)

Program

The course is divided into two parts.

PART I – Fundamentals of linguistics and characteristics of the Russian language
1) Linguistics: terminology and basic concepts
2) Genealogical and typological classification of languages
3) Levels of analysis of the Russian language: phonetics and phonology, morphology, syntax, lexicon
4) The Russian language in the contemporary world

PART II – Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language
5) Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language: fundamental aspects

Learning assessment procedures

Written Section + Oral Section
WRITTEN TEST
Duration: 1h 30m
The written section consists of exercises on the topics covered in the course.
ORAL EXAMINATION
During the oral section, students will be required to:
- correct the errors in their written exam;
- read, translate, and comment on an excerpt from a specialized linguistics text written in Russian.

Students with disabilities or specific learning disorders (SLD), who intend to request the adaptation of the exam, must follow the instructions given HERE

Evaluation criteria

Assessment criteria:
- content accuracy and completeness;
- achievement of adequate analysis abilities;
- clarity in the exposition, arguing ability;
- knowledge of the subject-specific lexicon.

Criteria for the composition of the final grade

The oral interview can only be taken after passing the written test (with a mark of no less than 18/30). The final mark is the arithmetic mean of the marks received in the two tests.
