Learning objectives
The course aims to provide students with knowledge, from the epidemiological and preventive point of view, of safety, work-related and climate-related risks.
- Describe diagnostic imaging and medical radiobiology, with particular attention to radiation protection.
- Describe the reference legislation and the main problems of risks related to work environments and prevention methods and the main Italian and European regulations.
- Analyse the measures of prevention of risks to workers.
- Analyse the dimension of climate change, the effects on health and the challenges for health professionals.
- Use the concepts of climate-related mitigation-adaptation and sustainable development in primary prevention, and describe system strategies to improve air, soil and water quality.
Examination methods: To pass the exam, students will need to demonstrate the ability to:
- Describe and articulate in specific situations the risk assessment and management of an event using also worker health protection legislation and guidelines.
- Discuss in a systematic and organized way the concept of Planetary Health, the impact of climate change on the health of citizens and the strategies for environmental sustainability in the health system.
