Learning objectives
The course introduces the student to the understanding of health service organizations by deepening the principles that underlie their management; it focuses on the dynamics and the essential elements that by integrating the different processes provided by the multi-professional team enable the organization of primary and secondary prevention.
- Analyse the constitutional right to health and the rights of the citizen/user and the main instruments of protection.
- Describe and analyse the principles and organizational articulation of the National Health System.
- Analyse the National Prevention Plan.
- Analyse the concepts of appropriateness, sustainability, efficiency, cost-benefit effectiveness and impact in terms of health and economic outcomes of health services provided by the NHS.
- Analyse the use of process verification tools regarding the quality of health service performance.
- Recognise initiatives aimed at protecting citizens' rights with particular reference to health promotion.
- Recognise the elements of complexity and governance for health.
- Prioritise interventions based on needs, organizational requirements and optimal use of available resources.
- Ensure continuity between professionals and between different services/structures and document the activity delivered in accordance with legal and ethical principles.
- Use intra and inter professional integration tools (meetings, team meetings, case discussions).
To pass the exam, students will need to demonstrate that/the ability to:
- Have acquired knowledge of the organizational phenomenon, both theoretical and applied, apply the fundamentals to situations.
- Describe the organization and priorities of health services and prevention by referring to national legislation and the national prevention plan.
- Apply in an organized and relevant way to cases and situation the principles and tools of integration, continuity and teamworking. Have an understanding of the principles of health care economics and governance.
