Learning objectives

The module contributes to apply the methodological foundations of scientific research and digital technologies to the field of prevention.

- Identify specific problems and areas of research in preventive, organizational, and educational settings.
- Recognise steps to conduct a focused narrative review of the literature.
- Acquire skills in critical appraisal of primary studies and evaluating the transferability/application of findings in professional practice.
- Conduct descriptive statistical analyses using software tools.
- Analyse and use systematic reviews to evaluate the effectiveness of educational and counselling interventions or methodologies with respect to health and humanistic outcomes.
- Recognise the main information and communication technologies (ICT) that support health promotion and education and use the most common tools.
- Recognise objectives and methodological steps of a mini-HTA in the field of prevention.

Examination methods: To pass the exam, students will need to demonstrate to be able to:
- Effectively carry out a bibliographical research starting from PICO and build evidence tables.
- Correctly perform descriptive, centrality and association statistical analyses on dichotomous or continuous data.
- Perform a critical appraisal of a primary study.
- Read and interpret the results of a systematic review/meta-analysis.
