Program
The course program includes the principles of physiology of successful aging and the pathophysiological mechanisms that lead to pathological aging. The epidemiological themes of population aging are developed with the repercussions on the community and on spending. The tools for multidimensional geriatric assessment are illustrated for a definition of the frailty of the elderly. Possible interventions to prevent the complications of aging in terms of disability and morbidity are illustrated. In particular, problems related to chronic pathologies such as cardiovascular and neurodegenerative ones develop. Possible lifestyle interventions are defined, particularly regarding physical exercise and correct diet.
