Learning outcomes

A course in Latin Palaeography prepares students for research with original classical, late antique and medieval manuscripts. Emphasis is on distinguishing characteristic letter forms and spelling peculiarities which date and place classical and medieval manuscripts, even in practice sessions. Focus is also set on the history of writing and editorial methods for classical and medieval texts in literature, philosophy, cosmology, physics, and theology.

Program

Knowledges in latin classics, roman history and medieval history are useful for attendance.
