Learning outcomes

I MODULE
The lessons provide an introductory survey of the history of the Greek ancient world, from the Mycenaean age to the Roman conquest, with particular care of geographical and institutional aspects. The lessons light up the role and the development of Greek civilization in the Mediterranean territories. After the course the students should be able to have a general overview of the main themes of Greek history, to understand and discuss institutional and political evolution of the Greek people.

II MODULE
The course offers an in-depth analysis of an aspect of the history of the Greeks, based on the ancient documents we have received. During the lessons students are trained put in connections the different kinds of document, whether historiographical, literary, epigraphic, archaeological or otherwise, to grasp how a methodologically correct reconstruction derives from the contribution of information and is proportional to their greater or lesser amount and reliability.
