Academic calendar
The academic calendar shows the deadlines and scheduled events that are relevant to students, teaching and technical-administrative staff of the University. Public holidays and University closures are also indicated. The academic year normally begins on 1 October each year and ends on 30 September of the following year.

The course aims at supplying the main sources (texts, commentaries, treatises, etc.) and the basic method to understand the history of Art Criticism from the ancient times to the XIX century.

Prerequisite: not necessary; however, it is the students’ advantage to have a basic knowledge in the field of art history and, to be more acquainted with the themes of the lessons, it is preferable to attend this course after taking the basic Art history exams (i).
Subject: the course will deal with the most relevant questions concerning Italian and European art criticism, paying specific attention to the Renaissance period.
Texts:
Texts to be referred to will be recommended during the lessons and, at the same time, they will be indicated on the website.
NB: all the texts will be available in the Frinzi Library or in the library located in the Department “Tempo, Immagine, Spazio e Società”.
Teaching method: lessons in the class-room, projecting images, reading and analysis of texts.
