The stranničestvo in Russian literature and culture of the 19th century.

Many artists and writers, like Dostoevskij, Tolstoj or Leskov, had been fascinated by the idea of stranničestvo. The course will offer the following content:
- an explanation of the historical and spiritual phenomenon of strangeness;
- the phenomenon of stranničestvo in Russian and Western philosophical interpretation;
- The figure of the strannik in the so-called The Pilgrim’s Tale, written by Arsenij Troepol’skij and in the Raw Youth of Fiodor Dostoevskij;
Examination Methods

The student also has to prepare a comparison of some aspect chosen freely from two works and a short reviw of some study about F. Dostoevskij.
