Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is the analysis of the economic evolution from the XVIII century to this day and age in the various parts of the world. A special attention will be paid to the evolution of different productive systems.
Program
The program of the course will be:
- The Industrial Revolution
- The third quarter of the XIX century: the "laissez-faire"
- From the 1875 to the First World War: the protectionist turn, the industrial development of Germany and United States, the Gold Standard
- The Great Depression and the crisis of the international economic cooperation
- The Second World War
- The second postwar period: the reconstruction, the growth of the markets in the East, the international economic institutions
- From the oil crisis of the seventies to the financial globalization of the XXI century
