Period

Semester 1  dal Oct 2, 2017 al Jan 20, 2018.

Learning outcomes

The course aims at widening and deepening the knowledge of 20th century Russian Literature through the analysis of some of the most representative works of the period using the main critical methodologies.
At the end of the course the student must have acquired the ability to analyse autonomously the main historical, cultural and literary phenomenons of 20th century Russia.

Program

"Itineraries in 20th century Russian literature through the concepts of ending, transition, beginning"

The central idea binding together the literary works examined is the sense of an ending – ending of an age, ending of a world - that permeates the historical transitional phases foretelling the birth of something new. Two analyses will be carried out, the first concerning the period from the beginning of the 20th century up to the Twenties (NEP), including the revolutionary apocalypse, and the second one about "Lagernaja literatura" (the literature about the concentration camps), the literature of the inhumanness, developing during the de-Stalinization years. The selection of works also aims at illustrating variety and richness of forms in Russian literature in 20th century.
