Learning outcomes

The course aims to provide the cultural basis to promote the physiology of pregnancy, childbirth and the centrality of the woman, couple and newborn, with a holistic approach.
We will go through the history and the evolution of obstetric psycho-prophylaxis, in Europe and in Italy, from its beginning to the present day, analysing how methodologies and objectives have changed.
The student will be provided with tools that will guide him in personalized assistance to the woman, with updated information based on efficacy tests, WHO / UNICEF's guidelines and recommendations. Moreover the benefits of the accompanying courses at birth will be explained.
The course aims to prepare the student to plan and conduct a preparation course at birth, as a promoter of the health of mother and child. The main purpose of the course is to put the mother back to the center with her needs, resources and skills, in order to demyricise the birth, protecting and supporting breastfeeding. During the course we will talk about how to identify and prevent post-partum depression.
Within a view to global and ongoing assistance, the student will be encouraged to learn about the social welfare of the area in which it operates, facilitating access to the Birth Points to women. The student will learn how to provide adequate support, during women's return home after childbirth. During the course we will talk about the importance of networking with other operators in private and public services and clinics.
