Learning outcomes
The objective of the course is to contribute to professional effectiveness in terms of capacity for care humanization and therapeutic education. The students will be able to recognize patients' learning needs through qualitative research.
The Metodologia della Formazione is useful to the extent that not only provides tools to health professionals to improve the quality of care but also if it provides insight into the importance of reflexivity and self-care. For this reason, qualitative research in the health field will be used as a pretext for understanding the "patients' world".
Program
The specific objectives of the course are:
- learn about the qualitative research methods and the means of identifying the research question;
- learn how to build the research sample, the pattern of qualitative interviews and in depth;
- increase the professional autonomy in the collection of educational needs and patient care.
The content will be:
- therapeutic education and qualitative research;
- the research methodology and the "quality," concerning the leading qualitative research methods (Phenomenology, Ethnography, and Grounded Theory);
- the semi-structured interview construction and the evaluation of research.
The course consists of lectures, interactive workshops and field test.
Students will be asked to perform in the presence of the activities, during the lectures, individual and group activities, between one meeting and another.
Book of the course:
Sasso, L., Bagnasco, A. & Ghirotto, L. (2015). La ricerca qualitativa. Una risorse per i professionisti della salute. Milano: Edra.
Examination Methods
Students will write a brief diary about the topics discussed and about research fieldwork.
