MM: PHYSIOLOGY
------------------------
The module will attempt to achieve a solid understanding on behalf of the students of the field of Neurophysiology, based on the assumtion that a solid background in Neurophysiology will be highly valuable to the students. This objective will be pursued while avoiding eccessive detail, but at the same time encouraging the student to understand the fundamental levels of analysis of the various themes.

MM: HUMAN ANATOMY

The main aim of this course is to give the student the ability to describe, at the basic level and with the appropriate terminology, the structural organization of organs and apparatuses - with special reference to those related to phonation - of the healthy human body, and the relationship between structural organization and function. Once acquired, these skills will allow the student to follow fruitfully the curricular courses requiring knowledge of morphology, and will give the graduate a firm cultural background in her/his professional activity. To achieve the main aim, the student should attend the lessons, be motivated in the personal study, and take advantage from the ad hoc teaching aids (atlases in printed and digital form, which are freely available at the library).

MM: PHYSIOLOGY
------------------------
The program of the module will comprise topics pertaining to the field of cellular physiology and general neurophysiology, with a special focus on the mechanisms of transmembrane transport, intracellular signaling, electrical phenomena in excitable cells, like the nervous cells, and also including synaptic transmission and the major neurotransmitter systems. Moreover, the program will ancompass an in-depth analysis of the physiological mechanisms of the auditory system as well as the physiological mechanisms underlying the control of motor actions.

Examination Methods

MM: PHYSIOLOGY
------------------------
The examination of each student will consist of an oral interview lasting a variable amount of time, in order to achieve a reliable assessment of the level of understanding on behalf of the students. During the examination, between a minimum of two and a maximum of four questions will be asked, depending on the specific case.

MM: HUMAN ANATOMY
------------------------
The final examination is intended to assess the student’s knowledge of the structural organization of the healthy human body and the relationship between structural organization and function, with special reference to the apparatuses involved in phonation. The test will be administered on paper as 30 multiple-choice questions (single-correct-answer from a list of 5 possible answers) on all the topics listed in the program. The multiple-choice test will be evaluated as follows: one point for each question answered correctly, and no points gained or lost when a question is either unanswered or incorrectly answered. The exam score will correspond to the number of gained points. The assessment method is identical for both attending and non-attending students.
