Learning outcomes
Writing for war and writing for peace in early 20th century German literature
We will look at how artists and intellectuals, in early 20th century, work for war or for peace (the second option being less common). Specific attention will be given to investigations on the end of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and to the rise of what Claudio Magris calls “the asburgic myth in Austrian literature”.
