Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students will reach A2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and they will be able to communicate in Catalan in everyday situations (personal and family information, daily actions, tastes and preferences), in routine activities that require a simple exchange of information, they will be able to describe in simple terms personal aspects and to express immediate needs. Besides, the student will achieve a general knowledge of the Catalan culture.
Program
Along with the morphological, phonetic and syntactic aspects, some basic notions will be given on both the history of the Catalan language and culture (with a rapid view on the current linguistic varieties of Catalan: eastern and western).
In order to stimulate communication skills, literary, journalistic or other texts will also be read/deal.

Examination Methods
Written examination (grammatical structures, reading and listening comprehension, and composition of text) and oral test (interview in Catalan on required reading and / or communicative situation).
