Research Methods for Evidence-Based Practice (2022/2023)

Learning objectives
The teaching aims to develop methodological competences for evidence-based practice through the development of the following skills: the transformation of a clinical issue into one or more questions to be searched in the literature; the enhancement of decision-making skills useful to choose interventions based on the integration of guideline reccomendations with patient preferences, clinical status and characteristics of organizational settings. In addition, the teaching aims to develop students' abilities to apply the fundamentals of applied research, to demonstrate evidence informed decision-making skills and to use biostatistics and informatics in their evidence based practice. EVIDENCE BASED NURSING Module: Learning Outcomes :to identify specific problems and areas for research in primary and community care; to activate strategies to promote the transfer of research findings into practice; to analyse and use primary and secondary sources to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions directed to epidemiologically relevant issues in relation to health and humanistic outcomes. GUIDELINES AND SAFETY OF CARE Module: Learning Outcomes: to understand and deepen the methodology in relation to the development of a guideline (GRADE system); to critically evaluate the validity and applicability of nursing and midwifery guidelines. BIOSTATISTICS FOR EXPERIMENTAL RESEARCH Module: Learning Outcomes: to apply appropriate statistical and epidemiological methodologies in the clinical field for knowledge of community health problems and better finalization of care and rehabilitation interventions. TOOLS FOR DATABASE MANAGEMENT IN THE RESEARCH ENVIRONMENT Module: Learning Outcomes: to use computer systems for data input and processing.
