Learning outcomes

The Greek Language (p) course aims to complement the introductory course by further focusing on aspects of language and Greek dialectology, as well as by introducing Students to other literary genres than those focused on in the introductory course.
By reading and analyzing a selection of highly significant literary documents, at the end of the course Students will be able to analyze and identify features that are peculiar to Greek literary languages, with specific focus on their phonological/morphological features and their diachronic/diatopic variance.

Examination Methods

The examination aims at evaluating the students' knowledge of the texts read during the lectures and autonomously: they will be asked to read and translate a decent amount of verses from multiple texts, and to discuss them through an in-depth analysis.
Particular emphasis will be placed on the morphological and phonological aspects of the Greek texts.
The students' critical competence will be tested as well, especially in the ability to link specific linguistic aspects with the general development of Greek language and the different features of styles and genres.

The exam will consist of an oral examination (both for regularly attending students and non attending students).
Erasmus students will be given the possibility of different examination arrangements.
