Learning outcomes
To provide a theoretical and practical introduction to the Internet and to Web search tools, with a focus on philosophy-related resources.
Program
- Internet basics, glossary and definitions
- Web search tools – Search engines, directories, electronic encyclopedias, digital text collections, OPACs, newsgroups, social media and UGC (User-Generated Content)
- Online search techniques – Planning and carrying out a web search, evaluating and organizing results
- Philosophy resources on the Web
- Exercise – Search the Internet for information on a philosophy-related topic and present results in a written document; accompany it with related files and digital resources, organized into folders.
Notes and worksheets will be distributed in class. All course materials will be made available on this Web site prior to exam date.
