Program
Verona Journalism Festival 2024
unSUSTAINABLE
The fourth edition of the Verona Journalism Festival returns, from 22 February to 4 March and then in the territories with EXTRA Festival, until April 2024.
The title of this edition, "unSustainable - When news challenges the events", highlights the difficulty of providing information today, among countless information sources which, regardless of a verification of the sources, contribute to creating an interpretation of the facts that can be pushed away from the real facts. The themes of the festival from this perspective will touch on feminism, the role of communication in politics, satire, the conflicts that are affecting the planet, passing through a reflection on artificial intelligence.
And, again, we will talk about the relationship between journalism and power, migration, prisons, and crime.
A theme to which a lot of attention will be paid again this year is the environment, to which two meetings are dedicated. One at the University of Verona, Friday 1st March at 10.30 am, entitled “The future in our hands” with Cristina Sivieri Tagliabue, environmental journalist and director of the newspaper “La Svolta” and Annalisa Corrado, head of development of innovative projects at ESCO AzzeroCO2 and responsible for technical activities of the Kyoto Club association.
The second, at the Fucina Machiavelli, Sunday 3 March, at 10 am. Elena Gerebizza, researcher and campaigner of ReCommon, and Filippo Taglieri, researcher and campaigner of ReCommon, in “The future of the planet: from fossil fuels to a new way of creating energy, avoiding shortcuts" in a meeting moderated by Giulio Todescan, director of the Vez.News newspaper which will be presented to the Veronese public.
Two opportunities to understand something more about the climate crisis and what awaits us.
