Learning objectives
The course aims to provide the theoretical and clinical tools to formulate correct diagnoses and dental treatment plans in infants, children and adolescents. The management of the pediatric patient in its complexity requires knowledge to be established in the physiology and physiopathology of the small patient both in the broader systemic framework, both in the specific field of odontostomatology. MODULE PRACTICAL ACTIVITY IN PEDODONTICS Educational objectives. The internship requires the student to come into contact with the most common dental and general disorders of the child and adolescent. Particular attention is given to prevention and to the psycho-behavioral approach with the subject in the developmental age and with his adult figure of reference. PEDIATRIC MODULE Educational objectives. The aim of the course is to give students the basics of knowledge of the growth physiology of newborns, infants, children and adolescents, with particular attention to the characteristics of greatest interest for dentistry, illustrating the most common childhood diseases. Furthermore, the treatment principles and emergencies regarding the most common diseases in the developmental age will be discussed. PEDODONTICS MODULE Training objectives. The course aims to provide students with the scientific and technical bases to perform correct diagnosis, draw up treatment plans and implement preventive and therapeutic protocols for the dentistry and maxillofacial field of the pediatric patient. Specifically, knowledge will be given of the main pathologies pertaining to congenital or acquired, acute and chronic pedodontics with particular interest in caries, periodontal pathology and gold-dental traumatology. Subject of analysis will be the stomatological manifestations of systemic diseases and odontogenic pathologies with early onset. The student will be trained on the dynamism and function of the neuromuscular and dental skeletal structures of the craniofacial district, thus being able to diagnose, prevent and treat issues of orthodontic-gnathological relevance of the patient in the evolutionary phase.
