Learning outcomes

The course is aimed at studying language learning, neural bases, congenital and acquired deficits of the same. It provides the introductory knowledge 3 to aspects of human language as a cognitive faculty, with particular attention to the levels of linguistic analysis. Theoretical bases for the study of phonetics and phonology and the operational tools for the evaluation and management of phonological disorders in the developmental age are provided. In addition, the methods of approach to the logopathic patient are indicated, how the data is collected, how to carry out observation, evaluation, budgeting and treatment planning. PHONETIC MODULE AND PHONOLOGY Training objectives: Provide the theoretical basis for the study of phonetics and phonology and the operational tools for the evaluation and management of phonological disorders in the Developmental Age. GLOTTOLOGY AND LINGUISTICS MODULE Training objectives: This course aims to provide some introductory knowledge related to the various aspects of human language, understood as the cognitive faculty of the species, and of natural languages, with particular attention to the levels of linguistic analysis. LOGOPEDICAL EVALUATION METHODOLOGY MODULE Training objectives: Teach students an approach towards the patient with logopathy, data collection, observation, evaluation, budgeting and treatment planning. ANATOMO MODULE-PHYSIOLOGY OF SOUND-ARTICULATORR ORGANS Formative objectives: To provide the student with the notions about anatomy and the functioning of the organs responsible for the production of voice, language, articulation and swallowing: oral cavity, pharynx, nasal cavity and resonance , larynx and respiratory system MODULE GENERAL PSYCHOLOGY Educational objectives: Neurobiological and neurophysiological correlates of human cognitive functions. Neuropsychological evidence of cognitive function deficits following focal brain injuries. SOCIOLINGUISTIC MODULE Training objectives: Students are provided with the basics of the sociological study of linguistic facts, which is based on the analysis of the interrelations between organization and functioning of human society and of verbal language. Language and society are related, that is, the social dimension of language

Program

------------------------
MM: GLOTTOLOGIA E LINGUISTICA
------------------------
The module aims at investigating language from different perspectives. Students will be familiarized with the principles governing the structure words (morphology) and sentences (syntax) and their interpretation (semantics). Furthermore, the module offers an overview of the mechanisms underlying first language acquisition and language processing.
------------------------
MM: SOCIOLINGUISTICA
------------------------
The module aims to provide a brief overview of sociolinguistics as a field of study of the variation observable in world languages in relation to different communities of speakers. After providing some notions on the history of the discipline, the following will be discussed in particular: - key-concepts of sociolinguistics, such as communicative competence, language community, language repertoire, variation, language contact - methods for field research - the axes of variation (Berruto) in the analysis of Italian REFERENCE BOOK: G. Examination Methods

------------------------
MM: GLOTTOLOGIA E LINGUISTICA
------------------------
The exam has the aim of verifying the theoretical competence acquired by the students and their ability to apply it to the description of various linguistic phenomena at the different levels of linguistic analysis. The exam is a written test, consisting of 10-12 questions (multiple choice and open-ended). Depending on the number of open-ended questions, the duration of the exam can vary, ranging between 60 and 90 minutes. The questions will be about all the topics in the program, discussed during classes and autonomously studied by the students on the available materials. The evaluation criteria are the following: - correctness and exhaustivity of the responses; - adequate analytical ability; - argumentation efficacy and clarity.

The exam consists of a written test based on open-ended questions. In response questions, it is required the ability to match the synthesis and clarity. Each of the open questions is evaluated from 0 to 10 points, according to: a) relevance of the answer b) ability to synthesize c) properties of language
