Program
The course is aimed at understanding and deepening the principles and methods of investigation of developmental psychology. The student will be offered 1) knowledge of the main theories underlying psychological development; 2) the characteristics of developmental processes within the different psychological domains, 3) the description of these processes within the different developmental phases of the child, from neonatal to adolescent, 4) the critical knowledge of the complex relationship existing between neurobiological components and environmental components and the role played by protection factors and risk indicators for the analysis of individual differences. At the end of the course the student must demonstrate to have acquired full mastery in the theoretical and critical and autonomous capacity to contextualize it in crucial questions related to development processes.
Bibliography
Didactic methods
The teaching sessions will be in the form of lectures with the use of videos and clinical case studies to promote the immediate application of theoretical knowledge. The students will be actively involved in group and individual discussions and project work under the supervision of a teacher and a tutor, to promote their critical reflection on the topics covered.
Learning assessment procedures
There will be a 2-hour written exam with three questions: two on the principal theoretical approaches and on the various disabilities and special educational needs and one discussing a case.
Evaluation criteria
Each question will be given a mark out of 30 and the final mark will be the average of the three.
