Anatomy and physiology of the ear
Cochlear physiology: movements of endocchlear fluids, vibration of the basilar membrane, hair cells, mechano-electrical transduction.
Physiology of the auditory nerve pathways: acoustic nerve, central auditory system, perception system
The bianural hearing
Classification of hearing loss
Subjective and objective examinations of hearing ability
The screening programs
Childhood audiometry
Prosthetic indication and monitoring: types of hearing aids and implants.
Practical exercises in reading and interpreting exams in all the areas mentioned above.

Learning assessment procedures
Written exam, lasting 1 hour, consisting of a part of multiple choice questions and a personal analysis of proposed exams.
Evaluation criteria
The multiple choice questions will have a weight of 60%, the analysis of the exams of the remaining 40%. Participation and attention during the lessons will also be evaluated.
