Period

Sem. 1B dal Nov 15, 2021 al Jan 12, 2022.

Learning outcomes

Resting on the thin edge dividing two different styles of investigation, the workshop on ethics and psychoanalysis aims to approach ethic’s main topics from the perspective of psychoanalysis and its contribution to provide a different reading to the main issues of the philosophical tradition. In particular, the workshop will provide an insight of the philosophical meaning of Freud’s discovery of the powerlessness of the subject. What does ethics become, in such perspective? How may philosophy think (or have thought) something corresponding to that, and may be called to develop that approach? The workshop will collectively analyze some of the main texts that have pioneered these philosophical discussions, in order that students may be capable to master their arguments and create their personal approach to them in a critical and autonomous way.

Program

The title of this year's workshop is "Ethics of the Unconscious and Visual Cultures." The workshop will also have the contribution of some important guests, such as the essayists and psychoanalysts Vittorio Lingiardi and Massimo Recalcati.
The workshop will address the theme of ethics starting from the contribution of psychoanalysis. In particular, the focus will be on the relationship between the dimensione of the image and that of the unconscious, with particular reference to clinical cases.
