Program
Literature and engagement
If literary authors take position regarding the concept "du politique", understood in the etymological sense of the term designing everything that pertains to the "polis" (the city, the state) throughout all epochs in constantly reinvented forms , the concept of "engagement" as theorized by Sartre characterizes the twentieth century. After having explained the concept and presented some paradigmatic cases of interrelation between literature and socio-political aspects, we will analyze some texts of different genres (dramatic and narrative production) showing how, since the 40s of the last century, some authors have mirrored and/or taken position on different aspects of society and politics. The course will be held in Italian, while the texts (primary and critical bibliography) will be read in French.
