Learning outcomes
The purpose of Odontostomatology I consists in providing the students a well-integrated knowledge about the following units: Restorative dentistry-Orthodontics-Periodontology-Prosthodontics. The different units concern specific principles but they are strongly connected in expressing and consequently accomplishing the patient’s reatment plan.
MODULO ATTIVITA' PRATICA IN ODONTOIATRIA CONSERVATIVA
To be able to employ dental instruments and to restore dental cavities. To be able to perform easthetic and non aesthetic restorations with up-to-date knowledge and materials.
MODULO ATTIVITA' PRATICA IN ORTODONZIA
recognize and distinguish eugnatic and dysgnatic clinical cases; diagnose and classify, acquiring knowledge on the relative therapeutic implications, both in the growing subject and in the adult, thus recognizing the most complex cases in orthodontics
MODULO ATTIVITA' PRATICA IN PARODONTOLOGIA UNIT: TRAINEESHIP IN PERIODONTOLOGY
The student will be able to prepare the surgical operating field; to adopt the basic individual protection measures; to prepare the operating room for non-surgical therapy .
MODULO ATTIVITA' PRATICA IN PROTESI DENTARIA
The module provides for the acquisition by the student of the guidelines concerning the fixed or mobile rehabilitation.the examination of the stomatognathic apparatus in dental and occlusal terms and the analysis of the temporomandibular joint function, are at cardinal reference points in the prosthetic rehabilitative clinical approach.in a fixed prosthesis the student must know the instrumentation necessary for the preparation and detection of the impression. in fixed prosthesis.the student will be provided with knowledge of the anatomy of the injured oral cavity in different degrees of bone atrophy, and the consequent clinical sequences for realizing partial or total dentures.in the practical activity the course foresees its objectives the correlation both diagnostic and instrumental radiographic, the acquisition of the ability to detect intraoral impressions in the different pathological indications.the student will be able to acquire prosthetic monconization techniques through the direct use of teeth mounted on dummy and assisted patient tests
MODULO ODONTOIATRIA CONSERVATIVA
The course aims to provide the anatomic, etiopathogenetic and instrumental knowledge to diagnose and to implement prevention protocols. Establishing restorative (morphological, aesthetic and functional) protocols for treatment of tooth’s hard tissues, with respect for health of periodontal tissues and masticatory function is also required.
MODULO ORTODONZIA FRONTALE
Recognize and distinguish eugnatic and dysgnatic clinical cases; diagnose and classify, acquiring knowledge on the relative therapeutic implications, both in the growing subject and in the adult, thus recognizing the most complex cases in orthodontics
MODULO PARODONTOLOGIA FRONTALE
To acquire the diagnosis ability in order to accomplish a proper treatment plan according to the specific type of the periodontal disease which is presented.Biological knowledge concerning the oral ecosystem and its pathological variations is necessary. Moreover, the student will be able to implement an appropriate treatment plan supported by the specific radiographic imaging and through proper diagnostic instruments; during the periodontology traineeship, the previous contents will be supplemented by the observation and learning of non-surgical causal therapy’s instruments, and by the observation of bone and mucogingival surgical procedures.
MODULO PROTESI DENTARIA
The course includes among its objectives the description of the guidelines to be observed in the prosthetic rehabilitation, in fixed and removable prostheses. The course includes among its objectives the description of the guidelines to be observed in the prosthetic rehabilitation, in fixed and removable prostheses. A careful medical history, an examination of the stomatognathic system in terms of bone, dental, occlusal and an analysis of the temporomandibular joint are the key points of reference in the clinical rehabilitative function of any type of prosthesis. The course highlights the correlation between the diagnostic radiographic and the instrumental use of the facial patterns in articular models and their use. Students are provided with the knowledge about the anatomy of the mouth edentulous, the physiology of the process of bone atrophy and the resulting structural changes of the supportive dentoalveolar apparatus. On top of this, students will be given the necessary information to design and develop removable dentures along with the basic knowledge of removable partial denture; upon completion of the course (students will be provided with) the prosthetic treatment and the basic guidelines for developing fixed prosthesis on natural teeth.
