Learning outcomes
The integrated course aims to provide the student with the most up-to-date knowledge regarding the following clinical areas:
- Medical emergency settings in the dental context. Particular attention is paid to the clinical-diagnostic framework of the single pathologies, in order to provide the student the notions to recognize them, differentiate them and put in place a correct and rapid diagnostic and therapeutic procedure.
-Basic and Advanced Life Support. Training activities are carried out in the field (exercises) which aim to provide the basic theoretical and practical notions for correct cardiocirculatory and respiratory resuscitation.
- Anaesthesiology and analogue / sedation techniques in the dental field
- Physiopathological and therapeutic bases of acute and chronic pain in general and in oral-facial contexts
- Surgical area diseases. Particular attention is given to the understanding of the pathophysiology of the diseases of surgical relevance, developing critical capacity in the diagnosis of the same. Furthermore, a generic orientation on therapeutic therapeutic strategies is developed or developed.
- Dermatological diseases. In this context the course aims to provide the main elements for the clinical approach to the patient with dermatological diseases and diseases of the oral cavity through the learning of the clinical dermatological methodology. Above all, diseases of the skin and mouth with the highest prevalence in the population, and therefore commonly observed by the dentist, and severe skin diseases associated with systemic diseases will be treated. Furthermore, a diagnostic-therapeutic approach will be illustrated to the patient that takes into account the principles of medicine based on scientific evidence.

- Clinical and instrumental approach to the dermatological patient and oral lesions
- Bacterial diseases (erysipelas, cellulitis, impetigo, folliculitis, intertrigo)
- Fungal Diseases (dermatophytosis, pityriasis versicolor, candidiasis)
- Viral diseases (herpes simplex, herpes zoster, chickenpox, HPV disease, measles, molluscum contagiosum, hand-foot-mouth disease)
- Ectoparasites: scabies, pediculosis, phthiriasis, insect bites
- Syphilis, gonorrhea and non-gonococcal urethritis
- Eczematous diseases (atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, seborrheic dermatitis)
- Cheilitis
- Urticaria e angioedema
- Psoriasis
- Autoimmune bullous diseases (pemphigus, pemphigoids)
- Lichenoid syndromes
- Recurrent oral aphthosis, Bechet's disease, oral ulcers
- Connective tissue diseases (lupus erythematosus, scleroderma, dermatomyositis)
- Adverse drug reactions (maculopapular exanthema, fixed drug eruption, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, Lyell syndrome)
- Proliferative diseases, benign and precancerous lesions of the oral mucosa
- Melanoma and non melanoma skin cancer
- Anomalies and diseases of the tongue
