Obiettivi formativi: The course aims to introduce students to the history of philosophy of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. At the end of the course the student must be able to demonstrate the ability to learn and to have knowledge and understanding of the authors and the texts dealt with.
Objectifs: Le cours vise à initier les ètudiants à l'histoire de la philosophie du XIXe et XXe siècles. À la fin du cours, ils/elles devront être en mesure de démontrer de connaître e d’avoir bien compris les auteurs et les textes choisis.

Prerequisites: knowledge of the history of ancient and medieval philosophy.
Content of the course: René Descartes’s “Discourse on the Method”.
The course includes the exposition of the themes contained in the Cartesian text published in 1637 that has become the manifesto of a new inquiry on nature related to an innatistic gnoseology and to a metaphysics that reaches the rational demonstration of God’s existence. Along with these fundamental themes of the text, Descartes’s cultural formation will be examined, as outlined in the first part of the “Discourse”, along with the exposition of the ethical principles contained in the third part. The course also includes the presence of a classroom tutor who will present the main authors and themes of the History of Philosophy from the 15th to the 18th centuries (from Niccolò Cusano to Immanuel Kant) following a different schedule than that of the professor.

Content of the course: Working in the philosopy of nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
Drawing a general picture of the history of philosophy of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, the course will consider some analysis of the theme of work. The program provides: Commentary on the servant-dialectical dialect in Hegel. Commentary on Marx's Economic-philosophical Manuscripts. Commentary on Weil's Working condition. Commentary on Arendt to the theme of work. Looking at the current reflection on the topic of work.
Contenu du cours: Le thème du travail dans la philosophie du XIXe et du XXe siècle Le cours esquisse un tableau de l'histoire de la philosophie du XIXe et du XXe siècle à travers la question du travail. Le programme prévoit : Commentaire de la dialectique maître-esclave chez Hegel. Commentaire des Manuscrits économiques et philosophiques de Marx. Commentaire de La condition ouvrière de Weil. The purpose of the exam is to ensure knowledge and understanding of the topics dealt with and to evaluate the skills of comparison between the authors acquired by the students. The exam does not include differences between attending and non-attending students. The final vote results from the mathematical average of the marks obtained in each course module.
