Program
CRITICAL THEORY OF COMMUNICATION The course will focus on the analysis and conditions of possibility of a “critical theory of communication”, as proposed in the important volume of the Italian philosopher Rocco Ronchi. The so-called “standard” orientations in communication theories will be discussed, necessary to measure the importance and centrality of a “critical” reflection of a philosophical-speculative nature towards informational paradigms. In the last part of the course, a synthetic framework of some new orientations of media theory will be proposed, in particular through the proposals of the so-called "media archeology" which has developed new theoretical-methodological postures for the analysis of the relationships between communication and culture material. During the lessons, the purely theoretical proposals will be illustrated with numerous case studies, in order to highlight the applicative potential of a critical theory of communication.
