Learning objectives
Know the anatomy of the meninges and the involvement of
meningeal components in physiological reactions and during the development of neuroinflammatory and neurodegenerative diseases.
Prerequisites and basic notions
basic knowledge of immunology and Master's degree
Program
The lecture aims to discuss the peculiarities of meningeal immunity, which represents a field of research of increasing importance for the normal physiology of the central nervous system. The pathological modifications of meningeal leukocyte populations during neurodegenerative diseases, such as multiple sclerosis and Alzheimer's disease, will be illustrated.
