Learning objectives

The general objectives of this course are (i) to acquire basic knowledge about the nature, major characteristics, and genomic organization of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs); and (ii) to acquire basic knowledge about the functions of lncRNAs in physiological and pathological settings. Particular attention will be paid to describing the mechanisms by which lncRNAs regulate gene expression during inflammatory diseases and neoplastic conditions. Along with the basic concepts, the course will also provide students with an overview of the technological tools and methodological approaches for the study of lncRNAs through examples from the available literature and direct experience of researchers in the PhD program.
