Learning objectives

The laboratory aims to provide students with the basic methodological and technological knowledge in the field of computer assisted translation. At the end of the laboratory the students: - will know and will be able to autonomously use the main IT resources for the management of texts in various formats, and CAT (Computer Assisted Translation) technologies; - will be able to create and manage translation memories and additional sectoral linguistic resources to support translation; - will know and will be able to autonomously use the main IT resources for automatic translation and will acquire the specialized instrumental skills for the posting-editing of automatically translated texts.

Prerequisites and basic notions

There are no formal prerequisites. Basic experience with text editors such as Word or Open Office will make learning easier.

Didactic methods

Lectures and activities in the laboratory will be conducted to allow students to see the practical use of software tools for computer-assisted translation.

Learning assessment procedures

Active attendance of the laboratory is strongly recommended. The exam will consist in the realization of a project and related discussion with the teacher.

Students with disabilities or specific learning disorders (SLD), who intend to request the adaptation of the exam, must follow the instructions given HERE

Criteria for the composition of the final grade
