Learning objectives
The course aims to provide the notions useful for understanding the current publishing scene in the main international markets and its most significant trends. In addition, the course aims to provide the knowledge necessary to understand the characteristics of the products produced by the publishing industry and the processes and functions that make them. At the end of the course, students will have acquired awareness of the current state of publishing and its products, and will be able to intervene operatively on some aspects of editing and design.
Prerequisites and basic notions
Knowledge of the spoken and written Italian language.
Ability to understand a contemporary literary text written in Italian.
Program
After a few lessons of a general nature, the course will focus on editorial writing and the selection and communication criteria of a literary text: the preparation of a reading sheet, the editing work, communication outside the publishing house (the office press)
Bibliography
Didactic methods
The course will consist of lectures and exercises on editorial writing, in particular students will be asked to write texts such as reading sheets and press releases.
Learning assessment procedures
The exam will take place through an interview both on the topics covered in class and on the textbooks.
Evaluation criteria
The ability to orient oneself in the main themes of contemporary Italian publishing examined in class and in textbooks will be assessed.
