Learning objectives
The course is held in German and is aimed at analysing authors, literary movements and texts of German litterature from the 18th Century to Romanticism. At the end of the course students will have to show to be able to approach Wieland’s texts from an intermedial and intercultural perspective and to properly express their knowledge in German language.

Program
The course consists of one single module (taught class). The course aims at introducing German literature and culture of the 18th century. At the end of the course students will have to attain deep knowledge both of the historical context and of the different literary works.
The course program includes some of the canonical texts of German 19th Century literature, such as:
Friedrich Schlegel, Lucinde.
- Ludwig Tieck, Der gestiefelte Kater.
- Clemens Brentano, Geschichte vom braven Kasperl und dem schönen Annerl.
- J.W. Grimm, Kinder und Hausmärchen.
- Heinrich Heine: Die romantische Schule
Literature:
Part of the texts will be handed out as photocopies. Further teaching material will be available on the e-learning platform related to the class.
Non-attending students are requested to agree with the docent upon part of the literature-history programme and to focus the second part of the programme on the study of works representative of the 19th Century literature.
Didactic methods
Attending students: the course will be held in Italian and will involve the reading of texts and participation in group work and discussions Non-attending students: additional materials to be studied independently
Learning assessment procedures
The final exam will be oral and held in German. The oral exam will be on the whole programme and it will consist in a conversation aimed at testing:
- the depth and the wideness of the acquired knowledges
- the ability to analyse and understand the literary texts in the programme
- the argumentative ability and the ability to link knowledges in a historical-cultural and critical-literary reflection
- the ability to convey the related topics in German.
The final mark will be in 30ths.
Evaluation criteria
The oral exam consists in verifying the knowledge of the topics covered during the course

The final grade will be the result of the oral exam
