Learning objectives
Theoretical Philosophy
The teaching program aims to teach the fundamentals of the theory and language of philosophy in such a way that students will be able to independently recognize and understand the internal relationship between philosophical concepts and issues. To encourage this, the teaching program will cover a number of central issues to the European and, in some cases, extra-European philosophical traditions.
At the end of the course, students will know the main conceptual lines of Western philosophical tradition and the most important debates going on in contemporary philosophical. They will also be able to comprehend philosophical texts, to set them within a proper critical frame, to employ a correct philosophical terminology, and to autonomously form judgements on the subjects dealt with in classes. Finally, they will also be capable to communicate philosophical contents to specialists and non-specialists alike, and to continue their studies at a MA level.

NIETZSCHE: TRAGEDY, ACTION, RESENTMENT
The 28-year-old professor of classical philology Friedrich Nietzsche had asked this question: what does "act" mean for a Greek? Is there a properly "Dionysian" action? How is it made, what does it look like? To answer these questions, we must start from the Attic tragedy and its heroes: Xerxes, Prometheus, Oedipus. We no longer understand them and the reason is that our modern and anti-tragic humanity is the product of the theoretical revolution of Socratism, which has essentially transformed the sense of action. The latter has become the expression of a free and responsible subject, therefore always guilty. In order to arrive at the modern and anti-Greek figure of the subject, it is necessary to go through the experience of resentment, in which our understanding of action is founded. What is resentment? It is necessary to clarify this, because only an overcoming of resentment will be able to bring about the dawn of a new humanity, the superhuman figure of a "homo natura" that Nietzsche's thought wants to make possible.
