Learning outcomes
Educational goals:
Knowledge of sources and tools used in the historical-religious research; ability to analyse sources in connection with the issues of the historical-religious research. Orientation in the specialized bibliography in addition to the Handbook.
Prerequisites:
Basic knowledge of Latin language, general knowledge of the history of Late Antiquity and Middle Ages from 3rd to 15th century.
Program
Syllabus:
During the course, the historical contest in which Christianity developed and spread during Late Antiquity and Middle Ages (3rd-15th centuries) will be presented. At the same time, together with institutional aspects, the course will investigate the development of religious history and the history of ideas which animated the Christianity of Late Antiquity and Middle Ages in all their aspects. Transitions, crisis and changes will be analysed; the focus will be particularly set on the first centuries of Christianity, the reform of 11th century, the religious movements of 12th and 13th century, the development of the Mendicants Orders and the crisis of 14th century.

Examination Methods
Teaching methods: lectures in a seminar-type context of reading and analysis of sources (a sylloge of sources will be hand out during the course).
Auxiliary teaching activities: seminars, congresses, conferences on the history of Christianity suggested by the Professor.
Evaluation criteria: oral examination.
