Learning objectives
The course is divided into two modules: General Psychology, General Sociology and History of Medicine
KNOWING AND REMEMBERING
- the basic elements necessary to consciously manage the psychological aspects of one's professional activity
- basic elements of psychology as a science of behaviour and its applications in a biopsychosocial approach to health/disease
- basic knowledge, mechanisms and processes underlying individual and social behaviour
- the cognitive and emotional processes involved in the psychological functioning of the individual
- psychological and relational characteristics of interpersonal communication in the light of the biopsychosocial model
- psychological, sociological, and historical aspects of the future health profession in order to be able to adequately situate one's profession in a complex context of relationships and operational networks.
- definition of Health and the Health organisation in the "Network Society
- the different methodological approaches that have characterised the evolution of medical-surgical thought and practice and the main sources for the History of Audiometry
- the main instruments to investigate the subjective perception of hearing impairment, prosthetic benefit, tinnitus-related disability, dizziness-induced disability and their correlations with quality of life and psychological distress

Learning assessment procedures
GENERAL PSYCHOLOGY: semi-structured written examination (open questions) to be completed in 60 minutes.
GENERAL SOCIOLOGY: semi-structured written examination (open questions) to be completed in 60 minutes
HISTORY OF MEDICINE: highly structured written examination (multiple-choice questions), 30 minutes.
Final grade: weighted average with verbal examination, cum laude if 30/30 in at least two examinations
Evaluation criteria
Simple and straightforward presentation of complex topics, using specialist terminology. Good critical ability to apply examples to technical-clinical practice.
Criteria for the composition of the final grade
Weighted average of the grades, expressed in thirtieths, achieved in the 3 different modules that structure the course
