Learning objectives
KNOWING AND REMEMBERING:
- the fundamentals of the information analysis and management, the world wide web and browsers
- computer structure and organisation, information coding, units of measurement of information
- the definitions of algorithm and programs, digital representation of text, audio, images and video, classification of computer softwares, computer security and risks related to the use of digital technologies
- the definition and structure of a data-sheet, calculation functions in Microsoft Excel, statistical functions and charting in Microsoft Excel
- the definition of data and information, databases, relational model of databases, database systems, similarities and differences between spreadsheets and relational databases, database languages, query composition, web-based databases
- knowledge of computer networks, computer network standards and protocols, history and structure of the Internet, web architecture, HTML language, structure and functioning of search engines
ACQUIRING PRACTICAL SKILLS
- related to the main functionalities of the software tools belonging to the datasheet, with particular reference to creating and organising data in a datasheet, copying formulas, formatting cells, use of general and statistical functions in Microsoft Excel, use of formulas and creation of graphs.
Learning assessment procedures
Computer-based practical test with detailed instructions, possibly accompanied by short closed-ended questions. In the case of acquisition or possession of digital competence certifications (ECDL, ICDL standard or higher), the examination will be validated without the need to take the practical test. Mark approved/not approved
