Learning objectives
The course aims at improving the knowledge of Private Law fundamental notions, with particular regard to the field of obligations, contracts, civil liability and protection of rights. Part of the class time will be devoted to case analysis discussions. This will enable students to understand how theoretical notions can be applied to solve concrete legal issues in a professional advice setting. The students shall acquire the knowledge required to analyse and solve complex legal issues and / or new legal problems on private law and should be able to identify and accurately apply the relevant legal sources, scholars’ opinions and case law.
Prerequisites and basic notions
Private Law Exam and Roman Law Institutions Exam.
Program
Law of obligations, torts, contracts, time limits, burden of proof and recordation in land registries.

Didactic methods
During the course, there will be discussions of practical cases with active participation of students.
Learning assessment procedures
The oral exam is divided into two parts. The first part checks the knowledge of the main case law and legal doctrine regarding the textbook’s topics. The second part consists in the discussion of a judicial case among those carried out during the year. The judicial cases’ drafts - accompanied by the indication of the journal or the volume in which their solutions are published - or their synthetic development for didactic purposes will be published on the course website in e-learning mode at the end of each module. The knowledge of judicial cases is mandatory also for non-attending students. Judicial cases may vary significantly from year to year.
Evaluation criteria
The oral exam has the following goals: Level and depth of study and understanding; Language properties; Capacity to connect systematically the understanding; Analitycal and arguing ability.
Criteria for the composition of the final grade
Overall evaluation of the answers given by the student.
